For participants whose class meets on the main Rice campus
Where to Park: Continuing Studies provides free parking for its participants in the Commuter Parking lots designated West Lot 2 and West Lot 4. Entrance 8 (on University Blvd.) and Entrance 18 (on Rice Blvd.) provide easy access to these lots. See the campus map for the location.
How to Use Your Parking Card: Gain access to the Commuter Parking lots by using the Rice parking card sent to you with this acknowledgement. Insert the card into the gate receptacle, magnetic strip down, arrow pointing towards the receptacle. If you are unable to gain access after properly inserting the card, press the HELP button located on the gate receptacle. A parking attendant will respond to assist you. You may only use your parking card for parking during your class time.
Display Your Hangtag: For security and enforcement reasons, all vehicles legally parked in Rice University parking lots must be able to be identified. Along with your parking card, we will provide you a hangtag for your rearview mirror. This tag must be hung from your rearview mirror with the printed side facing outward when you are parked on campus. Vehicles are subject to being ticketed, towed or booted if parked illegally.
Rice Shuttle Buses on Weekdays: Shuttle buses leave from West Lots 2 and 4 every 10-15 minutes, 7:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If you are unfamiliar with the campus, please tell the bus driver the name of the building in which your class meets so he or she may assist you.
Weekends and Holidays: The Rice shuttle buses do not run on weekends or holidays. If your class meets on a weekend or holiday and you do not wish to walk from the Commuter Parking lots, you may choose to park in a paid visitor lot that may be closer to your building (see below).
Paid Visitor Lots – Credit Card Required: If you choose to park closer to interior campus buildings, several paid visitor lots are available. The Founders Court Lot and Lovett Saddle Lot accessed by Entrances 1 or 2 and the North Lot, North Annex Lot and the Central Campus Garage near Entrance 20 are available for a charge $1.00 per 17.5 minutes, with a maximum cost of $10.00 per day. Credit cards are the only acceptable form of payment for these lots (VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover). Debit cards are not accepted.
Parking Validations: Some participants in classes that meet on the main Rice campus may be given parking validations instead of parking cards and hang tags. These validations may be used in the paid visitor lots. You will be sent separate instructions.
For participants whose class meets
in the 5620 Greenbriar Building

You may use Entrance 14A on Greenbriar or 14B on University Blvd. It is not a gated lot, therefore no parking card is required for access .During the daytime hours, participants may park only in the third or fourth row of parking spaces in the Greenbriar Annex Lot. The first two rows, closest to the building, are designated for Rice staff and visitors only. In the evening and on weekends, you may park in any of the rows.
Display Your Hangtag For security and enforcement reasons, all vehicles legally parked in Rice University parking lots must be able to be identified. We have provided you a hangtag which must be hung from your rearview mirror with the printed side facing outward when you are parked in the Greenbriar Annex Lot. Vehicles are subject to being ticketed, towed or booted if parked illegally. If you forget your hangtag, stop by the Continuing Studies office (just inside Entrance 8) during business hours for another or park in the paid visitor lot across Greenbriar at a cost of $1.00. This lot is labeled G for Greenbriar on the campus map.
