Discount Policy for Re-Enrolling Students

A discount of $30 per eight-week session is available for continuing students re-enrolling within a program year, provided the application and deposit are received by the discount deadline indicated in the session calendars. (For example, a student enrolling in Summer 2009 is eligible to receive a discount when enrolling for the Fall 2009, Winter 2010, or Spring 2010 sessions.) Returning students applying after the discount deadline will pay the full tuition rate. There is no discount available for the two-week Summer Daytime Intensive program. There are no discounts for first-time students.

Books

On the first day of class, students will receive a list of required and supplemental texts, which may be purchased at the Rice University Bookstore located in the Ley Student Center (see campus map), near the Grand Hall in the Rice Memorial Center. Refund Policy

Course fees will be refunded in full if the class is cancelled by Rice University or if a student cancels a registration before the application deadline (see session calendars). All refund requests must be made in writing.

If cancellation is made after the application deadline but before 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before classes begin, a $30 processing fee will be deducted from the refund. Students withdrawing before the fourth class meeting of the Evening or Weekday Afternoon sessions will receive a refund of one-third of the course fee. For the Summer Daytime Intensive and the Saturday Morning sessions, students withdrawing before the second class meeting will receive a one-third refund. There is no refund for any student withdrawing after the fourth class meeting (or after the second class during the Summer Intensive sessions).

Refunds for credit card payments will be processed as credits to the accounts from which they were paid and may not appear as a credit until the following statement. Refunds for enrollments paid by check take up to four weeks to be processed and are mailed by the Rice University accounting office. There is a $30 charge for any check returned for insufficient funds.
