Become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certificant
With more individuals and companies seeking expert help with financial planning, the financial industry is experiencing a tremendous increase in opportunities for both new and experienced professionals.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics 2008-2009 Occupational Outlook Handbook, "employment for personal financial advisors is projected to grow by 41 percent between 2006-2016, which is much faster than the average for all occupations. As more members of the large baby boom generation reach their peak years of retirement savings, personal investments are expected to increase and more people will seek the help of experts."
The public’s growing need for objective financial planning advice, coupled with the rigorous standards for certification, have made the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification an important distinction for financial planning professionals. Introduced in 1972, CFP® certification has become the most widely recognized financial planning credential among consumers.
Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies offers both classroom-based and Web-delivered CFP certification education programs to prepare students for the CFP® Certification Examination, both of which fulfill the educational requirements for application to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination.
Prerequisite
Students must have a four-year degree before enrolling in either program. The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) requires individuals to have an undergraduate degree prior to obtaining CFP® certification. No particular major or emphasis is required.
