Gain the knowledge, skills and perspectives necessary for success in the worldwide free market with the "SHRM Global Learning System®." The Global Learning System is a powerful educational tool for HR professionals with international and cross-border responsibilities as well as a comprehensive test preparation system for the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI®) Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR®) certification exam. Houston-area HR professionals seeking to move up in their profession would benefit from the Global HR Development program. According to the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston is home to more than 450 companies with offices in 129 foreign countries, more than 640 foreign-owned firms, and more than 3,300 area firms, foreign government offices and nonprofit organizations involved in international business.

Who should attend:
HR practitioners and professionals who:

  • Have at least two years exempt-level work experience.
  • Desire a review before taking the GPHR exam.
  • Are PHR-level or SPHR-level professionals wanting to add an international certification.

Study materials: Fee includes most recent printed edition of and online access to the "SHRM Global Learning System." Participants must have Web access. Cost of study materials is non-refundable once the materials are distributed.

Please note that names and contact information for all enrollees will be submitted to the Holmes Corporation in order for GSCS to purchase the "SHRM Global Learning System" and other required materials.

Refunds and cancellations: No refunds will be issued on or after the start date of the program. If enrollment is canceled in writing two weeks before the program start date, a full refund will be given less the cost of any course materials the participant has received. When enrollments are canceled in writing less than two weeks before the program start date, a refund less a 20 percent processing fee and the cost of any materials the participant has received will be issued, only if a replacement can be found for you.

Instructors:
Debi Dault, CRP, GPHR
, is a senior consultant for TheMIGroup, a global relocation management company, where she works with corporations in determining solutions for relocation and human resource issues. She is active in the Society for Human Resource Management and serves as the international director for its Texas State Council. She serves on the executive committee and board of trustees for the Dallas Human Resource Management Association and is its current president. She is a frequent speaker on international human resources for both corporations and professional educational conferences. Ms. Dault holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth.

David L. Marshall, GPHR, SPHR, is senior HR business partner for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. He is formerly founder and principal of Marshall Mobility, an interim professional services provider specializing in policy and process development, vendor qualification and compliance services for companies in the startup phase of international expansion. He has more than 25 years experience in Fortune 100 companies and consulting experience with a Big 4 accounting firm. He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and is a frequent speaker at international human resource conferences. Mr. Marshall holds a BA in journalism from Southern Methodist University and an MBA in management from Houston Baptist University.

Certificate of enrollment: All participants will receive a certificate verifying enrollment.

Certificate of achievement: Participants in Global HR Development who complete the online post-test for each module, score a minimum of 70 percent on the online final examination and attend at least 70 percent of the classroom hours will receive a certificate of achievement with commensurate CEUs and recertification credits.

HRCI certification information: The Global HR Development course, offered by the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University, reflects the general body of knowledge tested by the national Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). The course of study outlined in this course will in no way guarantee or assure success on the HRCI exams. Please note that you must meet certain eligibility requirements for the GPHR national examination.
